What is the Slime Effects Set?

The Slime Effects Set from Green Stuff World includes six special-effects gels designed to recreate snot, slime, alien secretions, bile, viscous substances, and thick blood on miniatures, models, and dioramas. Its variety of colors and finishes lets you create everything from small, wet details to much more striking three-dimensional effects for fantasy, horror, science fiction, and gore scenes.

The main characteristic of these gels is their thick, fibrous, and elastic texture, which allows them to be stretched into threads, filaments, and connections between different parts of a miniature. You can create saliva between fangs, slime dripping from a jaw, mucus between claws, alien secretions, blood clinging to weapons, or fluids that connect a creature to elements of the scenery.

Unlike effects created solely with paint, Slime Effects add real volume. The filaments protrude from the surface and can remain suspended between two points, making the effect much more organic. They also allow you to create droplets, small accumulations, thick puddles, and viscous masses.

The six included effects offer a variety of visual possibilities. Transparent shades work especially well for saliva and mucus; fluorescent colors allow you to depict alien fluids, mutations, or toxic substances; dark and violet shades are ideal for creatures, monsters, and fantasy settings; while bilious and bloody effects let you add a more unpleasant and visceral finish.

How to use Green Stuff World’s Slime Effects?

Pick up a small amount of gel directly from the jar using a toothpick, a modeling tool, or an old paintbrush, and place it on the spot where you want to start the effect. Then, slowly stretch the product until it reaches a second surface to form a filament.

You can use teeth, fangs, jaws, tongues, claws, tentacles, weapons, wounds, bones, branches, or scenery elements as anchor points. By varying the amount of product and the distance between the two points, you can create everything from extremely fine threads to thick, viscous fibers.

For example, you can connect a monster’s upper and lower teeth to simulate saliva, create multiple filaments from an alien mouth, add mucus to a corpse, depict a fluorescent substance oozing from a reservoir, or spread blood between a sword and its victim.

The products can also be applied without stretching. Using a larger amount allows you to create suspended droplets, accumulations, thick secretions, small puddles, or fluids adhering to surfaces. Combining these areas with filaments of different thicknesses helps achieve a less uniform and much more natural finish.

    Gore Effects, Monsters, and Creatures

This set is especially useful for adding gore details to zombies, demons, mutants, monsters, and combat scenes. You can combine blood, mucus, and other fluids to recreate wounds, bloodied jaws, organic remains, supernatural secretions, or creatures covered in viscous substances.

The different colors can also be used together. For example, clear slime can blend visually with blood, a bilious secretion can appear around an infected wound, and fluorescent effects can be used to represent poison, acid, radioactive fluids, or extraterrestrial substances.

To achieve more realistic results, alternate thin strands with thick filaments, small droplets, and areas of accumulation. Irregularities make the secretions look more organic and prevent the effect from appearing artificial.

    Can the viscosity be adjusted?

Yes. If you need a more fluid consistency, you can add a small amount of Green Stuff World’s Slime Effects Thinner. Work it in gradually until you achieve the desired density.

The undiluted product is particularly well-suited for forming strands, filaments, and three-dimensional structures. A more fluid mixture allows you to create thin layers, wet spots, puddles, blood trails, or secretions spread across a surface.

The thinner can also be used to help restore a Slime Effect that has thickened too much due to evaporation from leaving the container open or improperly sealed.

Slime Effects can also be combined with other effects and acrylic paints from Green Stuff World to modify colors, add contrast, or create more complex finishes.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use and work in a well-ventilated area. Before use, consult the instructions and safety warnings on the labels.
