What are Magnetic body shell magnets for RC cars?

Neodymium magnets are used for magnetic body mount RC cars. They are powerful permanent magnets made from a combination of neodymium, iron, and boron. Often are called rare earth magnets.

These magnets are not your average refrigerator ones, they are incredibly strong and lightweight, making them ideal for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. In this case, for mounting the body remote control car (RC). In fact, these magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnets available today, surpassing traditional ceramic ones in strength by over tenfold.

The strength of them is truly remarkable. Even a small one can generate a significant amount of force, capable of holding several times its own weight. This exceptional strength has made them indispensable in various industries, including technology, automotive, healthcare, and more. In the case of remote control cars, it is used for a magnetic body mount RC car.

One of the defining characteristics of these magnets is their grading system. These are graded based on the material they are made of, with higher-grade ones typically exhibiting greater strength. For example, a magnet graded as N52 is considered to be the highest grade currently available. Green Stuff World neodymium magnets for magnetic body mount RC cars are N52 type, so they ensure strong adhesion to the internal structure.

To protect magnets from corrosion and damage, they are coated or plated with materials such as nickel, zinc, or epoxy. This coating not only enhances the durability but also helps prevent rusting and chipping, ensuring their long-term performance.

These products are relatively new inventions and have only recently become affordable for everyday use. Their widespread availability has led to countless applications across various industries, from hard disk drives and speakers to medical devices and door catches.  Likewise, it has been introduced in various hobbies and types of art, such as in the creation of dioramas or for magnetic body mounts RC cars.

However, it's important to handle them with care due to their intense magnetic field. Even small magnets can cause bodily harm if mishandled, and precautions should be taken to avoid accidents.

Additionally, they have specific temperature limitations. While they have a high resistance to demagnetization under normal conditions, exposure to high temperatures above their maximum operating temperature can weaken or even completely demagnetize them. However, used for magnetic body mounts RC cars, they should not cause any problems if they are put to good use.

How to install magnetic RC body mount 1:10?

Follow these simple steps for a secure and realistic setup without the need for traditional body clips in your remote control car. Using this method, you won't need to drill holes in your RC exterior structure. Instead, you should place it onto your rig to determine the optimal positioning where magnets will be placed.

Firstly, identify where the magnets should be placed on the inside of the body. You can achieve this by marking the top of the posts with paint or marker, or by utilizing molded dimples, if available. Ensure the markings accurately indicate the mounting points.

Once marked, firmly press down to transfer these marks onto the exterior structure, ensuring they are visible for the next steps.

Select magnets that fit perfectly on the interior posts. Hollow neodymium magnets, along with the 15x1.5mm holeless neodymium magnets are ideal for this purpose. They provide a strong, reliable hold while maintaining a scale appearance.

Apply a small amount of epoxy glue and carefully slide the magnets onto the posts. Allow the epoxy to fully cure before proceeding to ensure a secure attachment.

Once cured, use a side cutter plier to trim the top of the posts to allow the magnets, which will be secured to the exterior structure, to sit flush.

Secure the magnets to the exterior structure using epoxy, ensuring that the marks made in previous steps are centered on the magnet holes. To stick it easily, without staining your fingers, you can place the part of the magnet that does not need glue on the head of a screw. Use packing tape to hold the magnets in place while the epoxy dries to prevent any movement.

Finally, once all are securely attached, install the exterior structure. The magnets will provide a strong hold, keeping it in place during operation while allowing for easy removal for maintenance, battery swaps, or turning the vehicle on and off. This method not only ensures a perfect magnetic body mount RC, but also enhances the scale appearance of your vehicle for a more realistic experience on the trails.

Warnings on the use of magnets for RC cars

The power of these magnets can become dangerous if they are not handled with care when working with them. In addition, they are vulnerable in certain environments. To use them correctly and without any danger for magnetic body mount RC cars is recommended:

  • Handle with care especially when working with two or more, as they can pinch the skin causing serious physical injury.
  • Keep them away from children. It is not only necessary to avoid pinching, but also ingestion. These magnets can be very small and easy to swallow, causing serious internal injuries, even death.
  • Strong magnetic fields can adversely affect pacemakers and other implanted medical devices.
  • Do not drill the magnets, as their dust is highly flammable and increases the risk of fire.
  • Take care of the coating. These magnets are corrosive, so they are manufactured with a triple coating. Working outdoors or in humid areas will corrode it over time, reducing its magnetic power.
  • Do not be exposed to high temperatures. Temperatures above 80°C (176°F) can demagnetize them, so it is not recommended to use them near places such as the exhaust pipe of a car, the engine, or around places like barbecues.
