How to make frozen bases for miniatures?

Welcome to a new easy-level tutorial from Green Stuff World, in which you will learn how to create and paint a detailed frozen base that you can use in all your figures and dioramas of cold environments, as well as characters characterized by cold or ice. In addition, the tricks we give you can be used to create your own creations while you develop your creativity, getting unique bases for Warhammer and other role-playing games.

One of the figures that fits perfectly with this frozen base are the Frozen Heart Phoenixes, these impressive creatures in that once shone the fire of the Flamespyre Phoenix, which has faded over the years. Now, their ducts have cooled to give way to the iciest ice that has turned them into amazing creatures covered in frost in all bright blues and whites.

This is the fate of all long-lived Ulthuan Phoenixes (Flamespyre Phoenix) after a lifetime of burning in magical flames, in which they have not hesitated to lend their important skills to battle for the survival of Ulthuan. For these battles, the Phoenixes choose riders with the same temperament, so they are usually young and energetic masters. This combination becomes truly terrifying. 

On the other hand, once they have become a Frostheart Phoenix, when their flaming plumage transforms into solid ice and frost, some of them head to the Temple of Asuryan to dedicate their final years to serving in battle as mounts for the Anointed of Asuryan, the spirit guides of the Phoenix Guard. Now, they prefer riders whose passion has transformed into deep wisdom, as a symbol of change in their life stage. 

However, other ice phoenixes decide to migrate to lonely crags where they will end their days as majestic frozen statues on cliffs and crag tops. Of course, the common destiny of all of them is to leave the Flaming Peaks in order not to harm their own kind, as they suffer when they feel their frosty plumage close to them. 

Of course, if you need an ice effect base for any other icy context, you can also use the one we show you in this tutorial. Before you start, make sure you have all the necessary modeling supplies and tools:

• Cyanoacrylate Glue
• Epoxy putty
• PVA Glue

Making this ice and frozen base is very easy. To start, you only have to place the putty on top of the cork after giving it relief with modelling textured rolling pins and glue the cork to the plastic base in such a way that there are two heights. Next, use the three acrylic paints to give a cold tone to the cork and the putty, place the snow mixing it with white glue, and add the transparent crystals. Once everything is completely dry you can place your figure on the finished frozen base.
