Dipping Ink Markers - Tip Size #2

The Green Stuff World pack of Dipping Ink Markers is designed for quick and easy miniature painting using the contrast technique. The markers come ready to use and filled with our Dipping Ink contrast inks, whose fluidity and transparency allow the color to pool in recesses and remain lighter on raised areas, creating shadows, highlights, and depth with a single application.

They feature a #2 tip, perfect for painting approximately 90% of a miniature, thanks to its balance of coverage and control. It’s also ideal for painting larger elements, such as terrain and scenery.

The marker format allows you to apply the ink directly without the need for brushes, a wet palette, or additional containers, making it a convenient and practical alternative for painting miniatures, figures, and wargame armies.

How to paint miniatures with markers?

To achieve the best contrast effect, we recommend applying Dipping Ink Markers over a white or light-colored primer. They are also particularly effective over a gray wash created using the Slapchop technique, where highlights and shadows are pre-prepared with black, gray, and white. When you subsequently apply our Dipping Ink Speed Paint, these variations remain visible through the color and enhance the miniature’s contrast and definition.

Before painting, you must prime the refillable markers. To do this, insert the tip into the hole in the cap and pump until it is completely saturated with ink; if the marker stops writing during use or you notice that the tip is too dry, pump again to restore the ink flow. Apply the ink directly to the surface, making sure to distribute it evenly and avoiding excessive back-and-forth strokes on areas that have already begun to dry.

To paint small details or areas requiring greater precision, the #2 tip can be replaced with our #1 replacement tips, available separately. This way, you can adapt the marker to the task at hand.

Can Dipping Ink markers be reused and refilled?

Yes. GSW paint markers are refillable and reusable. When they run out, you can refill them with our Dipping Ink contrast inks in the same color to continue using them.

If you want to reuse the marker with a different color, clean the marker thoroughly and replace the used tip with a new replacement tip before refilling it with the new color from the Dipping Ink line. Thicker paints can be adjusted using acrylic thinner until the desired flow is achieved. Cleaning and changing the tip help prevent residue from the previous ink from altering the new shade.

This system extends the life of the markers and allows you to switch colors according to the needs of each project.
