Green Stuff World Dipping Ink Markers are designed for fast and easy speed painting of miniatures using the contrast painting technique. They come ready to use and filled with our Dipping Ink paints, whose fluidity and transparency allow the color to pool in the recesses and remain lighter on the raised areas, creating shadows, highlights, and depth with a single application.

They feature a size 2 tip, suitable for quickly and precisely covering the different areas of a miniature. The marker format allows you to apply the paint directly without the need for brushes, a wet palette, or additional containers, making it a convenient and practical alternative for painting miniatures, figures, and wargame armies.

How to paint miniatures with markers?

To achieve the best contrast effect, we recommend applying Dipping Ink Markers over a white or light-colored primer. They are also particularly effective over a gray wash created using the Slapchop technique, where highlights and shadows are pre-prepared with black, gray, and white. When you then apply Dipping Ink Speed Paint, these variations remain visible through the translucent color, enhancing the miniature’s contrast and definition.

Shake the refillable markers well before use and apply the paint directly to the surface, taking care to distribute it evenly and avoiding excessive going over of areas that have already begun to dry.

The #2 tip offers a good balance between coverage and control. To paint smaller details or areas requiring greater precision, you can replace it with our #1 replacement tips, available separately.

Can Dipping Ink markers be reused and refilled?

Yes. Once the original paint is used up, the GSW paint markers can be cleaned, refilled, and reused with new colors. We offer replacement tip sets and internal components with everything you need to refresh the marker and extend its lifespan.

They can be refilled with our Dipping Ink paints, airbrush paints, and other acrylic paints with adequate flow. Thicker paints can be adjusted using acrylic thinner until the desired flow is achieved.

This way, once the original ink is used up, the markers can be turned into refillable and customizable model-making markers for creating new colors, blends, and effects.
