Painting of a NMM copper Skaven engine

NMM copper Skaven engine | Painting tutorial

In this tutorial we want to show you, in a quite simple and practical way, how to approach an aspect of the hobby that to many painters seems complicated and, however, is one of the most used and fun to apply techniques. We are talking about non-metallic metal in copper tones, something very usual if your army is Skaven, since as you know they are masters at working this particular material and its use causes it to rust and deteriorate a lot in combat. We will show it exemplified in an NMM copper Skaven engine.

With the acrylic paints palette and dipping inks that we propose in our tutorial, and following the step by step instructions, you will be able to make the technique your own with a little practice. Remember that dipping inks are the perfect support to make great contrasts in the different steps of the development of the piece. It is possible to paint over them without any problem using them as mid tones, as shadows or as color enhancers, when applied over white areas.

As a special tip for using them, the most practical is not to accumulate too much ink in deep areas of the miniature to achieve smooth color transitions, without extra accumulation of pigments.
