What is the best transfer paper to print on?

There are 2 types of products for making decals depending on the printer you have at home, which are: INKJET and LASERJET.

Inkjet sheets must be used in Inkjet printers, and then, LaserJet only in laser ones. If you are looking for high-quality prints, make sure you are using the right product that’s made for your type of printer whether it’s inkjet or laser.

A supplier of quality products with a low price and exceptional quality is very important, and this is why Green Stuff World always has a wide stock available for immediate shipping.

Can I use inkjet paper in a laser printer?

No, it is not possible to use it in a laser printer, because inkjet photo paper is not designed to withstand the heat of a laser printer in the process of fusing melted toner into the water decal slide paper. You will basically break your printer.

Can I use LaserJet paper in an inkjet printer?

It will not break it at first, but it is not advisable to do it because it can severely damage your printer. Take into account that the ink from an inkjet printer does not stick to paper coated for laser printers. They will easily smear as they come out of the home printer.

Using inkjet paper in a laser printer can severely damage it, though there won’t be too much damage done to your inkjet printer if you use laser sheets in it.

Best waterslide paper per Color

The best waterslide decal paper per color comes in different types, each with its own unique characteristics and applications. Understanding the variations can help you choose the right type for your specific creative needs.

  • Clear: This version is transparent, allowing the background color of the surface to show through the decal. This type is ideal for applying designs onto light-colored or transparent surfaces where you want the underlying color to be visible. They are very common as they can be used for creating subtle, seamless designs on glassware, candles, or light-colored ceramics.
  • White: This version has a white base, which makes it suitable for applying designs onto dark or colored surfaces. The white background enhances the visibility and vibrancy of the printed design, ensuring that the colors stand out prominently. It is commonly used for creating decals that should be applied over dark surfaces figures or terrain pieces, and also others such as dark-colored ceramics, wooden objects, or items that require high contrast between the design and the surface in general.

Types of Water Transfer Paper per Printer

  • Inkjet Printable: This is designed for use with inkjet printers, allowing you to print your decals directly. This type offers excellent color reproduction and sharpness, making it ideal for intricate and detailed designs. It provides vibrant and long-lasting results, especially when paired with high-quality inks. They are versatile and can be used on various surfaces such as resins, ceramics, glass, metal, and plastic.
  • Laser Printable: As the name suggests, it is compatible with laser printers. Unlike the inkjet printable version, this type requires the use of a laser printer for printing the designs. Laser-printed decals tend to have a more durable finish and are resistant to water, heat, and fading. This makes them suitable for applications that require higher durability, such as outdoor signage or items that undergo regular handling.

What is the difference between using transparent and white paper?

There are 2 types of waterslide decal paper available: transparent and white.

Transparent is the most common, and is a kind of translucent, see-through plastic. This will allow the edges to blend into your diorama and disappear, but because of its transparency, the base color will partially show through, which can alter the coloring of your decal image.

One trick to reduce this supposed problem would be to lighten the color of the area where a transparent decal is to be applied a bit and thus hide it. Obviously, its application on a nearly white background would be the best option, so your printed image will remain vibrant regardless of the color of the base on which it is placed.

The white decal, due to the opaque area, will be able to be applied over any colored base regardless of how light or dark it is. Note that almost all home printers do not have the option to print white, and for this reason, you would have to purchase white decal paper to print on.

This type of white transfer sheet is perfect for creating kind of stickers that are easy to cut with scissors, especially images with right angles such as posters, lettering, photos, and the like. If the edges are very intricate and detailed, hand-cutting will look very fake and unreal.

Water decals preparation instructions for printing

Choose the proper type according to your own printer type: inkjet, or laser.

Before printing, remove any protection sheet that may be present in the printable decal paper, and print your designs onto the glossy side. For inkjet printing, we recommend using the ‘printing transparency plastic film’ or maybe ‘printing in foils’ setting if your printer software supports these. In all cases, you must protect the printing with a solvent varnish or fixative spray to seal the printed image that will prevent ink from smearing, cracking, washing off,  and maybe breaking during application.

How do you use decal paper in Warhammer?

Using specialty waterslide paper to apply custom designs onto various surfaces is a straightforward process. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use this unique material:

  1. Design and Print: Begin by creating or selecting the desired design to transfer onto your chosen surface. Utilize design software or find pre-made images. Print the design using a compatible printer.
  2. Cut and Prepare: After printing, carefully cut around using scissors or a craft knife. Leave a small border around the design to aid in the application process. Prepare the surface where you intend to apply the transfer by cleaning it thoroughly, ensuring it is smooth and dry.
  3. Soak and Apply: Fill a container with room-temperature water. Submerge the printed decal, design-side down, into the water for the instructed duration. The water activates the adhesive layer.
  4. Place and Smooth: Gently slide the transfer from the waterslide backing onto the prepared surface. Begin by positioning one edge of the transfer and gradually placing the rest, smoothly applying it. Use a soft cloth or sponge to press out any air bubbles or excess water. Ensure the transfer is flat and firmly adhered.
  5. Dry and Seal: Allow the transfer to dry completely and once it is dried, consider sealing the applied design for added protection and longevity we recommend using the appropriate Decal Solutions. Apply a clear coat of varnish or sealant, following the product guidelines for optimal results.

By following these steps, you can successfully print your waterslide transfers for models to apply your custom designs onto surfaces, infusing your creative projects with a personal touch.
