Paint a marble effect base for Warhammer - Easy Tutorial

Welcome to Green Stuff World's new tutorial with the original techniques of the artist Kieler, who this time teaches us how to create marble bases warhammer for each wargame miniature from scratch. In this easy tutorial, you will learn how to make your marble miniature bases in a simple way with a very peculiar trick that offers a very realistic finish.

These marble bases are perfect for some armies or Kill Teams, as well as any mini belonging to the nobility and upper classes of society in general. In fact, they are perfect for corporations such as the Adeptus Custodes genetically enhanced warriors responsible for protecting the Imperial Palace and the physical body of the Emperor of Mankind, as well as serving his most important emissaries. They were the prototypes for the later development of the Space Marines.

It was with them that the Emperor began his conquest of Terra. The Adeptus Custodes are considered an elite group of transhuman warriors, according to the current lore, are made up of male and female Custodes and are even more powerful in combat than the Adeptus Astartes. While the Space Marines are mass-produced soldiers, the Custodes are a force of individual warriors, given unmatched capability and singular purpose created under the idea of countering any threat be it human, demonic, or alien.

Because of their privileged position within the Imperial Palace, they are among the chosen few who have been in the presence of the immortal Emperor of Mankind, whom they have watched over, served, and protected.

If you have decided to make your own marble bases, just follow KIELER's detailed tutorial made with products from the Green Stuff World catalog, with truly amazing results. The materials and utensils you will need are as follows:

  • Rolling pin
  • Rolling pin ELVEN
  • Milliput black
  • Silicone guide rings (optional)
  • Round cutters for bases
  • Miniature bases
  • Acrylic white paint Nuclear White
  • Pure metal pigments Bronze
  • Master medium
  • Airbrushing elements
  • Wet-wipe (dried)

To make marble miniature bases, you have to prepare a piece of the right size of one of our epoxy putty, in this case Milliput, flatten it with the smooth roller, and then emboss it with the Green Stuff World Eleven Elf roller. To achieve a unified indentation, you can place the guide rings on your textured rolling pins for clay to maintain the same height during use. Now you are ready to use one of the craft cutting tools for circular bases.

Now it's time for the master technique that makes the difference between a realistic marble effect penalty and a decent imitation. To do this, use a dry wet wipe (just leave it out of its package for 24-48 hours) and gently wring it out so that cracks appear all over its surface. Wrap it around the Milliput stand and paint with airbrush and white acrylic paints on the wipe. Let it dry, remove it and, if you wish, paint with a miniature paint brushes the last details in gold (with metallic pigments) and glue the Milliput with PVA Glue, or other glue of your choice, on a wooden base to increase its resistance.
