"Echoes of The Past" is the diorama depiction of a scene i had in mind for quite some time. The New - a lone Tau Fire Warrior on an unknown planet stumbles upon the remnants of the Old - a ruined Leviathan-class Dreadnought, destroyed during some assault who knows how many years ago.
As with every project, planning it ahead is most important. The idea was for a seaside scene, with the destroyed Dreadnought half submerged in water and covered in corals and salt.
Sculpting and painting the corals was a lot of fun. I used greenstuff from Greenstuff World, primed with a brush later on. I used a yellow equivalent of bluetac to place the dreadnought when needed to plan the layout.
Poruing the resin is always stressful!
Unfortunately, due to shrinkage a nasty crack appeared. Luckily, this can be easily fixed by pouring resin in the crack.
The next step was to build the wooden box for the diorama. I used mahogany.
After building the wooden box, i started working on the waves and the beach. The work was pretty straightforward from there.
