The whole tree is made of florist wire, the cheap stuff works good enough.
The green wire is cut to lengths of about 40cm, I twisted them with two wires together to create branches.
The tree is formed by twisting the branch wires together, starting from the top of the tree down to the ground.
Keep on adding wires untill you like it and it starts to look like a real tree, in this stage I added the thinner silver wire to give it more thin branches.
When I was happy with all of the wires, I added bark paste.
It is a paste made of woodglue, clay and water. Once dry it crackles and looks like real bark.
After two layers of bark paste I added some paint.
For the leaves I used thin green paper in different green tones.
In total I punched between 30.000 to 35.000 leaves, at a certain point I lost count....
When I started adding leaves to the tree, I worked from the inside of the tree.
Otherwise you can't get there anymore if you start on the outside.
Thanks Greenmaster, I've put it on some Facebook modelbuilders pages. And (as you know) you can find the full build also on my Instagram account.
What a great job of scenography! Share it on your Facebook wall, it's worth it!!
