First design of the diorama. I always start by trying different shapes, volumes and sizes. When I found the right proportions I started shaping the trees with wire and cutting the base.

I cut the foam for the base and the wall and engraved the door.

I covered the wire trees with milliput and glued some real branches to the trunk of the trees, to add more volume and support for the leaves.

I added texture to the wall and floor and covered everything with some layers of modpodge to harden the foam. Then I primed the base and the trees in black. I didn’t glue the trees to the base yet to make the door easier to paint.

To simulate the light of the door, I first applied a couple of coats of pure white following the lines. Then I gave some diluted blue layers all around the white lines and then drybrushed in white and blue the whole shiny area. Finally I applied a couple of layers of the fluor paint along the lines of the drawing.

It was an odyssey getting the leaves to stick to the twigs, I tried different products but some didn't stick well and others altered the color of the leaves, (noob mistakes) I finally got them to stick with superglue and white glue droplets.

I glued the trees to the base shaping some roots with milliput, and added some tiny rocks and texture on the ground. For the water effect I dyed the greenstuff resin with nuln oil and added the product to the base. I made several noob mistakes again (I had never used this product before) but I ended up happy with the result. I also illuminated the stones and the floor near the door with white drybrush to simulate the light coming out of the wall.

Finally it was Gandalf turn. I painted the front of the model brighter to simulate the osl of the door (seriously Quim, why do you get so obsessed with the details in the front of a miniature that is facing a wall
