DEATH GUARD PLAGUE MARINES CONVERTED

Hi there !! ^^

I've always wanted to sculpt minis... But my skills were very poor TT

I gave up GW chaos space marines since 5 years but when I saw the new primaris size, especially the new Death Guard plague marines ones, I decided to push myself more away and sculpt.

I bought the "Easy to build 3 Plague Marines" box, some tools & green stuff from greenstuff world (of course ^^) and let Papa Nurgle guide me ^^

All the "making of" process is viewable at the following : https://letempledemorikun.blogspot.com/2018/10/warhammer-40000-kill-team-by-games.html

I wish you like my very first detailed step at sculpting ^^

Step 1 : More Nurgle corruption !! With lots of green stuff... And much more patient, I sculpted disgusted details (the GSW XL roll maker was so fantastic !!) ^^

Kill_Team_4_(8)

I'm very proud of the guts outside, the caterpillars... and the "ballter" ^^'

Kill_Team_4_(9)

Step 2 : Color your life !! ^^

Kill_Team_5_(15)

White basecoat...

Kill_Team_5_(16)

Kill_Team_5_(17)

And then, yellow base coat... yes, I've speak about yellow ^^

Kill_Team_5_(18)

Kill_Team_6_(5)

I drybrushed a mix of yellow + clear grey and more grey and more grey... And achieved by a sweet white drybrush.

Kill_Team_6_(6)

Kill_Team_6_(7)

And green ink for all !! ^^

Kill_Team_6_(8)

Step 3 : heavy metal, brow ink and sweet flesh ^^

Kill_Team_6_(9)

I started painting metals : iron first...

Kill_Team_7_(1)

Then the bronze...

Kill_Team_7_(3)

And I put about 3 brown ink layers until I get the dirty green and dirty metals I wanted ^^

Kill_Team_7_(5)

And after that, the skin could begun ^^

Step 4 : Sweet very rotten flesh !! ^^

Kill_Team_7_(6)

The skin would hilighted with a vey clear pink (elf flesh I mean)...

Kill_Team_7_(7)

Kill_Team_7_(8)

Then I put attention to the sores (orange and yellow) and horns (bleached bone)...

Kill_Team_7_(9)

Kill_Team_8_(1)

And after a little layer of clear brown ink, I used some colors of ink I never use habitually : violet, red, green... It was very cool indeed ^^

Kill_Team_8_(2)

Kill_Team_8_(3)

I used blue ink for bronze weathering

Kill_Team_8_(2)

I hilighted with clear green some parts of the armours space marine...

Kill_Team_8_(3)

Kill_Team_8_(4)

At this point, the Plague marine paintjob was quite finished.

Kill_Team_8_(5)

Step 5 : My secret weapon for more realistic corruption : fishing line + Still Water !! ^^

Kill_Team_8_(6)

I used some fishing line I glued with little stillwater... I wanted some very dirty fluids... ^^

Kill_Team_8_(7)

Poison plague dagger work in progress... ^^

Kill_Team_8_(8)

Kill_Team_8_(9)

After that, I put some mor stillwater in packs !! ^^

Kill_Team_8_(11)

No worry : my "ballter" wouldn't stay like this ^^

Kill_Team_8_(21)

And the final tool : some yellow ink... But just wait a moment ^^

Kill_Team_8_(8)

Sorry, a mistake of me and I cannot remove this pic ^^'

Step 6 : Ace of base(s)... Ok very very bad joke indeed ^^'

Kill_Team_8_(15)_1

I glued some sand on the bases, painted them with dark grey. After drying, I glued some bricks I bought on GSW after cut and break them : I wanted an industrial ambiant ^^

Kill_Team_8_(17)

I drybrushed some clear grey...

Kill_Team_8_(19)

And I finished with a white drybrushing and some black on the sides ^^

STEP 7 : Varnish, gloss and all about nurgle makeup... And that's all folks ^^

Kill_Team_8_(44)

I varnished (matt) the 3 minis. After drying, I mixed some yellow ink you saw before + still water and I put it everywhere I fitted good... A sort of vomit or bile flows festival . And to be definitely very realistic, I put some gloss varnish everywhere it would be very disgusting : fluids, flesh, horns... ^^ I finished with gluing some dark grass tufts on the bases.

Kill_Team_8_(45)

I'm very proud about this very first sculpting/painting job of mine indeed ^^

Kill_Team_9_(1)

Papa Nurgle would be very proud too isn't it ? XD

Kill_Team_9_(2)

Kill_Team_9_(3)

Some pics with white background if you prefer... ^^

Kill_Team_9_(4)

I really beg your pardon for my very bad english ^^'

Thank you very much and don't hesitate to ask me your questions ^^

Merry Christmas and happy new year to all of you !! ^^
