Using Glycerin to Cure Leaves for use with Greenstuffworld Leaf Punch

Hey folks, today I'm going to show you how to cure leaves in a solution of Glycerin, so that they will stay soft and pliable forever, making them well suited for miniature basing, when using the Greenstuffworld Leaf Punch.

First off - Our Supplies

SUPPLIES

1) A jug of vegetable glycerin. I got mine off of Amazon, but you can find this stuff all over the place on the internet.
2) Warm Water
3)Leaves
4)A waterproof container

INSTRUCTIONS

This is as simple as it gets. Make a two part glycerin, one part warm water mixture, stirring well. When the two parts are well mixed, add the leaves into the mixture. Make sure they're completly submerged, and that they will stay submerged for the entirety of the curing process (you may need to weight them down due to bouyancy). Leave the leaves submerged in the glycerin solution for week. After that, simply pull them out and allow to dry.

You'll lose a little bit of color in the greens and reds, but other than that you can expect them to look like they did when you put them in. Then it is just a matter of punching them out, and placing them however you like on a base. I'm a fan of matte mod podge for this purpose, as it won't dry shiny like super glue, but any adhesive is fine.

As you can see below, you can get great results with very little effort.

Keep you bristles damp!

Sangre

Most of the time, when you see blood in miniature, it’s thin tendrils of UHU Glue, painted over with a transparent red paint. While the effect can be neat, I wanted something with both a higher degree of verisimilitude, and capable of withstanding tabletop caliber handling.

After an inordinate amount of trial an error, I’ve created an incredibly cheap effect that is more durable than the miniature itself ( it’s pretty much completely flexible), and can be used to create any liquid shape you’d like.  The only limit being the depths of your imagination.

I’m a fucking wizard.

On a less self agrandizing note, I think I’m close to mastering capturing liquid in motion. For lack of a better term, I sculpted that blood.
